Rental Arrangement Suitable To Your Holiday Experience
While visiting Queensland, it is important that you are aware of the rules, when you are traveling through the outback. Before you enter the road, you are required to contact the police and let them know where you are heading. Once you reach your destination, you are then required to make another phone call to the police and inform them of your arrival. This is an important procedure, so that if you are not at your destination and the approximate time of your arrival, they police will be able to easily find you. It is also important to know that although you can travel these roads with a car, the best choice of vehicle is a 4 WD.
Whichever means of transport you decide upon, it is very important that you are carefully prepared. Carry important spare parts is a good idea as trying to arrange a tow in these remote parts takes a long time and can be very expensive. Its also advisable to travel with a high frequency out-post radio transmitter that is equipped to pick up the Royal Flying Doctor Service bases. Mobile phones cannot be relied upon in such remote areas.
Another essential item, that you should always have on you, is water. It is recommended that you carry at least 20 litres of water per person, as well as an ample supply of food. There are also certain times of the year that makes a road more easily traveled on then others. From November to March, it is not recommended that you travel Queensland's south west, due to an abundance of dust that can increase mechanical problems. While in the North, it is not recommended that you travel during the rainy season, as the roads tend to get flooded.
One of the best ways to ensure that you are traveling the proper roads, and are fully prepared for your journey, is to speak with the local police. They will advise you on which tracks are open and what is the suitable car for your travels. Another useful service is the RACQ (Royal Automobile Club of Queensland. When you join, they will cover up to $95 per year, and offer a 24 hour emergency roadside assistance service. If something were to happen, they will promptly arrive and try to correct the situation. If the problem can not be corrected they will arrange towing for you, making them a great asset. RACQ can also provide you with maps, weather and road conditions, and they sell a range of travel and driving products that will help with your travels.
If you should happen to come into car trouble sit is very important that you remain with your car, as it is easier to spot a car then it is to spot a person. Never wander off into the wilderness, as individuals have been found dead, from thirst, long after their car was found.

David Coulthard crossing Bandra Worli Sea Link in 8 seconds
Red Bull event on 11th October 2009 @ 3PM: Red Bull Race Driver David Coulthard's drives his V10 Red Bull F1 Car on the Bandra Worli Sea Link (BWSL) doing Doughnuts live in Mumbai. Mumbai's Formula One fans had a great feast watching David Coulthard driving on the Rajiv Gandhi Bandra-Worli Sea Link at blinding speeds in a Red Bull racing car. The car passed by at around 80km/h, stopped, then David ripped the engine at at least 15000RPM for the donuts. The sound of the engine easily drowned out the sound of that annoying chopper overhead. The smell of the burning fuel and tires was amazing. The sight of the car racing down was awesome!!! Made the wait in the sun seem all worth it. 360 spins and much more.... David Coulthard waved the Indian tricolour as he passes by the audience. More videos at www.youtube.com
Tips To Stop Car Thieves When Driving On Your Holidays
In these tough financial times most folks need vacations more than ever. As well, they also want to save a lot of money. One economical solution is taking the family car and driving to and from your holiday destination instead of flying there.
If you are planning to drive, it may also make sense to take a few steps to protect yourself and family from auto thieves. Having a car thief steal your car, your luggage, other items of value in your trunk could really wreck what was supposed to be a fun filled and relaxing trip.
Even by taking all the numerous precautions to prevent auto theft when you travel, very determined professional car thieves can still manage to take any vehicle if they want it bad enough. Did you see the movie Gone In 60 Seconds starring Nicolas Cage? However, you can still dramatically lessen the odds of becoming a victim of auto theft to almost zero.
Most of these auto theft preventative measures are common sense and will you cost nothing to do. So why not make it a habit of implementing them not only when you travel by car on your holidays, but also in your every day driving as well?
To start with, you should never take for granted that you are immune from car thieves when traveling, or that your vehicle would not really be worth stealing.
Keep in mind that sometimes these thieves might be after more than just your vehicle, luggage, or any valuables that might be inside your car or trunk. They may only want an older car to joy ride in, or take it to sell its parts.
They may also be after your vehicle documents for identity theft purposes, or they could be thinking of robbing your residence while you are away on vacation. Where would they get this important information? From the vehicle registration and auto insurance papers which are usually conveniently located in the glove compartment.
The best solution is to eliminate this possibly by keeping these documents on your person at all times when traveling on holidays.
The second best way is to reduce the problem by hiding these documents really well in the trunk. Some police forces in high auto theft crime areas of cities recommend this. Don't forget to tell everyone who is traveling with you where these documents are located in the trunk.
Here are some more ways you can lessen the chances of having your holidays wrecked by car thieves. If you can manage to implement some of these suggestions, you will really lessen the chance of becoming a victim of auto theft when you travel.
Close all of your vehicles windows tightly and lock all the doors when you park it anywhere, even if its only for a minute or two.
A real invitation to lose your vehicle is leaving it idling and unattended. Its just not cool to do it. Don't even think about doing it.
Similarly, don't leave your vehicles keys in the ignition or hidden anywhere in car. That includes a second set of keys. Car thieves will easily find any keys hidden in the usual places very quickly. Keep an extra set of keys with you.
Do not leave any thing of value in your vehicle, even if they cant be seen from the outside of your car. If you can, take them with you.
However, if you have no choice and have to leave valuables in your vehicle, make sure that they are locked in your trunk. When you do this, look around and make sure that no one is watching what you're doing, or better still stop, pull over, and put them in your trunk before you arrive at your destination. Prying eyes may be anywhere.
When parking your vehicle in public areas, turn you front wheels either to the left or right before turning your ignition off. This will engage the steering wheel locking mechanism in the steering column which can make your car a little more difficult to steal.
You should always engage the emergency brake after you have parked and turned the motor off. This may also make your vehicle harder to tow away.
For front wheel and rear wheel drive vehicles you should park them differently when in an underground parking garage. The front wheel drive autos should be parked with the nose in and rear wheel drives with the nose out. Then turn your tires to the left or right. Again, this may make your vehicle harder to tow away.
It is always best to park in an attendant operated parking lot rather than an unattended one. If its a lot or place that has valet parking, only let the attendant have your door and ignition key. They don't need any other keys for your vehicle.
In public places at dusk and at night, always park in a well lighted area that has a lot of pedestrian traffic. Keep in mind that most auto thieves prefer to work under the cover of darkness.
If possible, avoid parking next or near to any obstruction, such as a large truck, fence, hedge, or anything that blocks an unobstructed view of your vehicle to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
When you are staying in a place that has gated, secure parking, be sure that the gate has completely closed after entering or leaving so that a thief doesn't sneak in to the parking area behind your vehicle.
If you see any suspicious activity such as someone or a group of people loitering near your vehicle you should call the police.
Here are some of the anti-theft devices that you can install for maximum protection. You may have some of these products already installed in your vehicle.
You should use a highly visible after-market steering wheel lock bar. Most car thieves will likely move on to easier prey. Other less visible after-market anti-theft products are gas pedal locks, brake pedal locks, and armored collars that fit around the steering column which protects the ignition. And for the manual shift vehicles you can also use an after-market shifter lock. These products are all effective but not as highly visible to prying eyes.
Another thing that you can do is have your mechanic install a hood lock that will prevent easy access to your vehicles battery including the security system.
A loud vehicle alarm system and a highly visible alarm sticker on your windshield is worth its weight in gold especially when its combined with the addition of some of the other anti-theft security options.
The best vehicle protection is a passive electronic immobilizer that disables the motor when the ignition is turned off. Its not an inexpensive device to get installed but is well worth it for your peace of mind. There are more benefits you may receive by installing an electronic immobilizer in your car. A number of auto insurance companies will offer a discount on your policy if you can produce documentation that you have had one installed. You may also get more money for your vehicle if you sell it down the road.
Last, but not least, you should make sure you have enough insurance coverage on your vehicle including theft and damage before you travel on vacation.

BMW And Citroen Safest Cars
It would appear that in a study published recently that Citroen and BMW make some of the safest cars on the road. This study was part of an ongoing constant appraisal that Euro NCAP carry out to constantly monitor car safety.
Euro NCAP was established in 1997 and now backed by five European Governments it is fast becoming the premier authority on car Safety within the European Union.
It is supported by motor organizations within the various member countries of the EU and (has rapidly become the catalyst for encouraging major improvements with regards to car Safety and Design.
So it would appear that they have a rough idea of the plot, certainly one would hope so and I think in this case they do
For BMW their safest option was the 3 Series whilst for Citroen their safest vehicle was the Citroen C4.
For BMW the overall opinion was that the new 3-series achieved five stars for protecting its adult occupants. Under crash simulation conditions the main body cell held up under pressure and protected all of its passengers. An intelligent seat belt system was in place and this meant that protection for Children was extremely good (4 stars out of 5)
With regards to the Citroen C4 the jury felt that it was a strong performing car deserving of its five star rating (out of five) for occupant protection. Again like the BMW the strong passenger cell protected the occupants well under pressure conditions. Again, like the BMW the protection for children was good with a four out of five rating overall.
This is probably not surprising but neither of the cars were that good when it came to protection for any pedestrians accidentally involved in any incident etc.
I suppose the moral of the story is try not to run into a BMW at speed if it is traveling the other way and you are walking.
Cars have got significantly safer over recent years thanks to these independent crash tests. A models safety rating is a major factor people consider when choosing a new car.
Many cars now score a full five stars [in eight categories]. But within this band some do better than others and our list separates out the very top performing cars.
These are the ones, which Euro NCAP reckons offers the very highest level of safety for their class, and is something car buyers should be aware of.
