Oh really? What if it is the other way around?

edthaw November 21, 2009 at 6:54 pm

Because Japanese cars (with a few exceptions) are even more boring than German cars.

Not completely right: originally the 928 should replace the 911. Good thing the “Elfer” is still available and the “Achtundzwanziger” isn’t. But it’s a sad thing the elven becomes more and more a GT, like the twenty-eight.

porsche made the 928 in mostly automatics to appeal to the american market, thats why the engine is a v8 and in the front, unlike any other porsche

Paddels? Come on. Real sportscars have real manual transmissions. Don’t get me wrong, I mean it’s a good car but why don’t you buy a Japanaese car? They are cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and they don’t make any problems at all. I am German and cars like the AE86, KP61 or (R)PS13 are very popular here, they are leight and powerful.

Hey, why don’t you buy a Japanese car? I mean they are cheaper to buy, cheaper to run and they don’t have these problems German cars have. I am German and I love cars like the AE86, KP61 and (R)PS13. Light, powerful and with rear whell drive.

yeah, I guess in the heavy traffic here it made sense and at high speed it doesn’t really matter but to be honest I didn’t like it much. I have just sold it actually, now I’m switching to a car with paddle shifting, a bit like a Playstation which is very japanese too…

Automatic in a sportscar? And I thought only Americans are buying such things.

kc03300 November 22, 2009 at 12:36 am

your knocking civic and Porsche. both are good. sounds like you do not now what a good car is.

vdbdg November 22, 2009 at 1:16 am

thanks, it’s an auto like most cars here in Japan. Given the traffic it’s not a bad option.

same here, pretty cheap too and usually in very good condition. This one is mint with clean history but if you drive it like it’s designed to, it quickly starts showing its age: oil leaks, electrics malfunction… It’s my second one and I know the drill but frankly, I wouldn’t recommend it as the maintenance costs will take you into ‘new reliable car’ price territory quickly.

spitalul2bad November 22, 2009 at 5:56 am

I didn’t know you were in Japan. Your profile says you’re from Belgium. And also, that must be expensive even so…

The car is great and you can find lots of them in Europe, most of them pretty cheap.

vdbdg November 22, 2009 at 6:10 am

haha, unfortunately not that rich, it’s just one of those japanese garages: gotta turn the car around on that platform, lift up the merc behind (it’s on an elevator), squeeze mine under, and put the merc back down… you really gotta want a car badly to buy one when you live in Tokyo, I can assure you…
