Google is mapping Thunderhill Raceway for their Google Maps and Streetview websites, and this is a video shot from the rear of a Fun Cup racing car during the photography.

whats neet with them cameras it shows all around all a around at once all frames. Immersive media is making virtual reality movies with them.

That’s the GoPro camera. Anytime there is a massive over-exposure (i.e. looking at the sun) it blanks out that part of the picture. I’m not sure why, but it’s probably something to do with the auto-exposure system.

why is there a dark point in the Sun @ 1:27 ?

Yes, they said they wanted to do more… depending on how well this one turns out. Sounds like a nice gig if you can get it!

That’s pretty cool! Do you know if they’re planning to map other race tracks as well?

It’s the dark red Toyota Prius, with the photo boom sticking out of the roof… so yes, it’s the one behind it.

Which is the Google Maps Street View Party Van? Is it the one from which the video is recorded, or is it one of the vans behind it?

Yes, they recorded the track, pits, everything. It should be on Street View in January sometime. Just search for “Thunderhill Raceway” in Google Maps.

Did google street view really record this track? How do you find it on google maps?
