A racing car is traveling on a circular race
course of radius 547 m at a speed such that it
makes 1.53 rev in 1 minute. The mass of the
car is 1590 kg.
What is the centripetal force acting on the
car?
Answer in units of N.

Best answer:

Answer by sreegorli
Centripetal force = [mv^2]/r
m= 1590 kg
v = ?
r = 547 m
angular velocity , w = 1.53 rpm
= 1.53 *2(pi)/60 rad/sec
= 0.16 rad/sec
v = wr = 0.16*547
= 87.52 m/s
Centripetal force = [1590*(87.52)^2]/547
= 22,265 N
